I was asked the question about how handicaps will be calculated opening week. The question was such a good one, and the league deserved to know, that I created a video update. The video is linked. But I'll discuss briefly in article format for those who prefer to read.
First, the procedure we are using in week one is the same procedure we will use when a sub plays for the first time. I have to have a way to use a golfer that has no establish handicap.
I'm going to lay this out in steps in hopes that it is easy to follow.
1. When there is a new player on a foursome, the A & B matches will not be known because the new player does not have an average/handicap.
2. Golfers in that foursome will play their matches,record scores and turn in the result like any other night. There is no expectation or requirement that you align opponents on the scorecard.
3. The new golfers score will be entered into my spreadsheet. That will immediately calculate that person's average and handicap.

4. Then the A&B players can be determined. Individual A & B matches are entered into my spreadsheet and the match results are calcuated immediately.
5. The average and handicap for the new golfer is no on record and will be used anytime they play in the future.
