The Batavia Depot will be the most intemidating scratch build on the layout when I decide to tackle it. It may end up a 3D print project. Regardless, it has to be right or it is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Amazingly, I have not photos in my collection of the depot. Everything I have is by others. Expecially frustrating because I remember standing in front of the station in the late eighties chasing a 611 steam excursion. 611 that day made a stop at Batavia, and it seemed we were there quite a while. I can remember thinking at the time "I need to get some shots of the depot". But as a teenager, film and development cost stretched had to be budgeted, and this particular day was all about 611.

Well, the depot was torn down in 1989. Funny thing about the railroads, they don't go out of their way to let you know it is happening. Sometime after I was back in the villiage and the station was gone. It was a real gut punch. I think I have some shots of Sardinia, as it was torn down slightly later. But missing the classic brick structure in my home area bothers me to this day.
