Category Description:
I knew I wanted a town scene on my layout. Especially one where the train ran behind the buildings and was kind of secondary to the scene. Williamsburg is layout very well for that sort of scene.

In real life, there are two or three town blocks between Main Street and the tracks. I've had to narrow that on a shelf layout. But the look and feel of two of the main blocks of Williamsburg are captured on the layouts.

Moving from west to east…
The Double E Café sits on a corner along Main Street. I made little attempt to match the building, but will use the prototype name.
Maududo Martial Arts will populate the next building. The real building does have a martial arts studio. I have friends who run a Maududo studio. This is a perfect plact to include a tribute to friends of mine.
The Post Office in Williamsburg is right on Main Street. The Walthers Post Office kit is a perfect match.
Wildcat Subs is a prototype storefront. The wildcat is the mascot for the local high school. It's actually a pretty cool inclusion with a hometown feel for the scene.
Grandmas Pizza is on another corner. Note the burglar alarm in photo 2802 above the door. I'll have to figure out how to inlude that in HO Scale.
Medarys is at the start of the second block. Medarys is a real store along Main Street, but space limitations forced me to pull it up along the road.
Paul's Barber Shop and JPs Electronics share the next build. Paul is named for a famliy friend who ran the barbershop I went for the first forty years of my life. JPs is named after my father in law, who worked at Beckjord and was very handy with small electronics.
Anne's Florist and HolmansThe Holtmans building is insprited by a prototype Holtmans building. But the kit was larger than would have been needed. So I added Anne's Florist to the other end. Anne was my mother in law, and by placing her next to JPs Electronics, I ensure my mother and father in law are together on the layout.
Three Chins Chinese Buffet is a fav of mine. First, the name… if you eat at Chinese Buffet, you get three chins. Second, pay no attention to the kind lady feeding stray cats on the step, nothing to see here.
Sudzy Bear Car WashAt the corner of Main and Foundry street really is a self serve car wash. Sudzy Bear is a made up name, inspired by the child rhyme about Sudzy Wudzy. I don't know why, may have been the first book I ever read.
