Category Description:
The Tealtown and Salt Run bridges are kitbashed and scratchbuilt bridges respectively. The Tealtown Road bridge is a modified Micro Engineering bridge. The distinctive feature on this bridge is the deck crossing the drainage creek is shorter than the deck over Tealtown Road by a few inches. The bridge pier sits really close Tealtown Road. In real life, Tealtown Road runs into Roundbottom Road just a few dozen feet north of the bridge.
The Salt Run Creek bridge was scratchbuilt to match the protoype. I'm not a good scratchbuilder, and this wasn't a difficult build… but I'm pretty satisfied with the result. The bridge is a rather unique style, with open trust bents design that lets you look through the bridge.
I'm probably more familiar with this location on the Peavine than any other as I've been riding and driving under this bridge my entire life, and still do twice a day most days going to and from work. So having it on the layout is a favorite location.
