Blizzard of 78 - Portsmouth
Picture posted to facebook by Chad Fannin on February 15, 2021. Description from post.

Shortly after the Blizzard of 78’ in early February, some photos on the Peavine traveling west taken by my grandfather Ed Fannin. He was either the conductor or possibly the head brakeman riding in the second unit on the head end. First photo is the train starting out onto Vera bridge leaving Portsmouth. Next one is between Plum Run and Peebles. The third picture is looking back over the train at Summit Road as they are traveling down Batavia Hill. The last photo is crossing out over the East Fork bridge in Batavia. The head engine is N&W 6086, a EMD SD40-2 built in March 1975. This unit is still in service and on the roster today for NS.
