Otway Depot

Photo posted to CCET Facebook Group by Jim Detty on January 14, 2018. Comment from post…
Some discussions recently on the N&W depot at Otway in Scioto County. The B&W pictures of course show the depot in it's heyday, while the color ones were taken in the early 1990s (I stupidly didn't write the dates on the back as I normally did) long after being converted to a gas station/ carryout.
Jim Detty The depot was closed in 1956 and was soon sold and moved across the tracks near the intersection of State Route 73 and State Route 348. It was converted into a garage for many years (even had a hydraulic lift installed) and was later sold again and changed over to a grocery store. Later still a gas station was added and it was named (appropriately enough) The Depot. As can be seen in the color pictures, the building was showing its age both inside and out, and in September 1999 the building was razed. A new more modern gas station/ convenience store opened on the same property and is still known as The Depot, even though it's no longer in the depot building.

D Lamb Note: The 1925 date on this photo is a guess by me.
