Sperry Rail Service 118 at Rushtown
Posted to Facebook Cincinnati Eastern Railroad Group Page August 22, 2018 by Jim Detty. Description from post
A rare treat was found in early 1988 when Sperry Rail Service #118 was seen going westbound on the Peavine at the State Route 104 grade crossing in Rushtown, Ohio. Built in 1927 by the St. Louis Car Co., #118 was originally a B&O doodlebug #6004. It didn't stay in B&O colors very long as it was sold to Sperry in October 1933. #118 remained in service many decades afterward inspecting thousands of miles of rails on several different railroads in the U.S. By 2010 it was listed as out of service awaiting the scrapper's torch.
