Came across this today. Edit: I've posted the real photo before, but here it is again.

Richard Thompson did more than just run a general store. He was a major land investor, had fingers in most of the pies in town and while not exactly a public official he was definitely a mover and shaker in the community to use modern lingo. He was also rather camera shy as I'm having trouble finding his picture.
