McDermott Stone Co
Posted to Facebook History of the Peavine Group Page February 12, 2019 by Chad Fannin.

The McDermott Stone company in the late 1890’s Maintained their own railroad. They used several different locomotives over the years the earliest one being a Brooks 4-6-0 locomotive with a slop back tender, no doubt used from somewhere. Had their own engines all the way into the 1950s. Not sure the exact date they stopped using their own locomotives. The quarry had 3 miles of 56 pound rail and several flat and side dump cars that they used. It later became Taylor stone company and still in business today. Info from Nelson Evans. -Chad
