First Run For Locomotive, Norfolk Southern Returns To Short Line Railroad Branch, Cincinnati Eastern

Video posted to facebook on April 15, 2021 by Brian Gibson. Description is from the youtube description.
Norfolk Southern returns to branch line in Ohio after 7 years! This is the first train on this line with a NS locomotive since Cincinnati Eastern Railroad took over the line in 2014. Listen to it pulling up the steep grade with 2 other classic locomotives on Summit grade in Batavia! They sound awesome pulling this unusually long train up the hill. Most trains on this line are short but the grain elevator in Winchester, Ohio ordered a nice cut of covered hopper cars and Cohen Recycling in Macon needed 4 gons for scrap metal. The NS locomotive is an SD40-2 and this is its first run on the line since the days of when Norfolk Southern used them. I just happened to catch this unit leaving Milford, Ohio at Mount Carmel Rd and I don't know if CCET is leasing it or buying it. The unit was taken to Sardinia and left on the Sardinia Holdout track aka passing siding on the east side of Sardinia. We get to watch it at several scenic locations on its historic maiden voyage or whatever. Anyway, it was pretty cool to see it and the weather was perfect. Filmed March 4, 2021 CE. Thanks for watching!
