Finally Hauling Rock By Train! First Rock Trains In Decades Part 2, Short Line Railway Action CCET- part 2
Video posted to facebook by Brian Gibson on April 29, 2021. Description from youtube post.

The first rock trains in decades and I got lucky to record a rare video for history! Short line railroading at its best! This railroad is an old Norfolk & Western Railway line that Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET has brought back from the dead. Norfolk Southern owns the line and tried to abandon it but were not allowed to and today the line is flourishing with new customers being served by CCET. Not only is the quarry at Plum Run ( near Peebles, Ohio ) finally using rail but Purina is building a huge plant at Afton, Ohio that will become a major customer. More on Purina in the future but lets have a look at one of the first rock trains here. This is part 2 for this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ltcnn… Don't miss the awesome aerial shot in this video at 8:05 that shows the gravel in the hopper cars. This video starts at Sardinia Wye and includes Macon, Mt Orab and Williamsburg, Ohio. Twenty years from now someone is going to watch this and say "Wow, I'm glad you got the first rock trains! I remember those old locomotives." I'll say "Son, I knew it was history in the making!". Lol. Anyway, while it wasn't the very first rock train, it was one of the first and this is an interesting rock shuttle. The cars are loaded at Hanson Aggregates in Plum Run. They are shipped about 58 miles or so to Bzak on Roundbottom Rd, Milford Ohio. From there they are unloaded from the main line and trucked to where they are needed. The day that I filmed this, they were coming back from Hanson and they stopped at Mount Zion to pick up the 15 covered hopper cars that were stored there on the passing track. The train actually spent Thursday night there at Mt Zion and I filmed them on Friday, April 23, 2021AD. Thanks for watching! Please thumbs up and watch another JawTooth video to help my channel.
