WESTERN OHIO MARIEN SWITCHING DISTRICT TRACK PLAN |
|
TRACK PLAN OVERVIEW |
The track plan features the three track, 27 car capacity Marien Yard. Marien Yard serves as staging for the layout, avoiding the need for
off layout staging. Enough cars are located in the yard to support all of the local industries.
The Buckeye Mills complex is located at the opposite end of Marien from Marien Yard. This required a run around maneuver during operating
sessions. Because Buckeye Mills requires service every operating session, this run around move is performed each time. A second run
around move is required to sort the outbound cars back into Marien Yard.
Across the mainline from Buckeye Mills is the Knott-Fitfur Animal Feeds Company. Knott-Fifur does not receive a lot of traffic. But its
location across the mainline from the other industries does require special planning during an operating session to avoid moving cars
unnecessarily.
Ohio Valley Lumber and Premier Plastics are located across the main from Marien Yard. These two industries share a siding, with Ohio
Valley Lumber at the tail end of the siding. Cars must be blocked appropriately by the Marien Yard crew, and any spotted cars at Premier
must be moved in order to switch Ohio Valley Lumber.
Miss Terri Meats is located in the center of the layout. Miss Terri is a low volume industry that is switched with Buckeye
Mills.
