| The Western Ohio Story is separated from the Layout stories to distinguish the idea that inspired the freelanced regional railroad from the individual layout concepts. The Western Ohio story describes the concept behind the railroad and the freelanced history of the railroad. The concept behind the freelanced Western Ohio is a regional railroad originally incorporated to take advantage of opportunities
created by the abandonment of lines by larger rail companies. With success, the Western Ohio was able to grow and extent its
territory, while maintaining the hometown feel of a regional railroad.
