MAX SCORE CALCULATION
I believe I created some confusion in the way I described the max score on each hole. Going to try and clear that up with one simple statement… and then I’ll go on to talk too much about it.
MAX SCORE ON A HOLE IS PLUS 4.
If you are not in the hole after your triple bogey putt (and it better be a putt… I don’t care if you are still in the rough, hit it with your putter on principal!). Then you pick up and take a plus 4. I’m actually going to stop here. The more I say, the more I confuse.
MAX SCORE CALCULATION
DeeDee has provided the following instructions for signing up for Skins and Long Putt. Please read and contact DeeDee (DeeDee.Brook@geaerospace.com) if you are interested. I have an email to DeeDee asking if there are one or two closest to the pin games. And I believe this is only for the side DeeDee is playing, which is the front side this week.
$1/per person per game buy in. Must be paid to DeeDee that night.
Closest to the Pin – must be from the first tee shot (sign tag on green) on a par three.
Longest Putt – must be the first putt and needs to be holed, not a gimme (sign tag on green)
Highest number of fairways in regulation - must be from the first tee shot (just mark a hash mark in the score box for the hole on the scorecard during the round then total with the score at the end (46+7FW for example)
Rules
* Participants must sign up and pay – either at the desk when you check in weekly, or online, or with DeeDee in Evendale 200
* Buy in is cash only exact change, so is pay out
* Only players who have signed up and paid prior to the start of the round can participate
* Only money collected will be distributed the night of the round
* First tee time will take tags out, last tee time will bring tags in please
PACE OF PLAY
Because I was sitting in the clubhouse waiting on groups to finish, it felt like we were getting done late. I emailed the course to see if they had any feedback. The did not. So there is no official problem.
This is just a reminder that we do, and will have groups following us all season. It is important to the course that we maintain pace. The biggest factor that I look for when I’m playing is if I am more than a shot behind the group in front of me. Meaning if the group in front of me is putting on a par four, and my group is just teeing off, we are falling behind. Even if you make that time up, the ripple effect through all the groups will take some time to catch everyone up.
So this is just a friendly reminder from me.
CONTACTING SUBS
Many of you have already taken to the Sub Request form on the web site. Thank you for that. And I will try to send out a reminder each week listing the sub positions we have open.
My ask is that you be proactive in filling the openings. If you are a player needing a sub, and see that a sub has offered to play that week, please reach out to them. Most players have an email address link you can use on the report, and I would love for players to put in their cell so people can text.
On the reverse side, subs, if you see a posting, use the email link to connect with the requester.
What I can’t do is be a middle man for all conversations. I’m lousy at email, and prefer not to get myself in the middle. I’ll lose track of what sub goes with what player. What I do ask is that when a deal is made, send me a text or an email and I will update the list on the web site.
Regarding the list on the web site, I have added status indicators to help identify when a position is filled and what positions or players are available. Hopefully this makes it easier to use.
CONTACTING SUBS
Having said that, sub openings this week are
Trevor Heinrich is available to sub
Jim Miller needs a sub.
You two should talk!
TMI
That is the end of the stuff I wanted everyone to read. The rest is plain and simple Too Much Information, things that are on my mind that I don’t mind sharing for those who are interested, but I know for some it is just too much.
If you go to the schedule page, and click on the Match ID, you will see a representation of the scorecards for the match. You can also access this page from the Teams page by clicking on the match date. Hopefully accurate. Please report any errors as it is a lot for me to validate.
Speaking of the Teams page, I fixed an error where the Points For and Points Against were wrong for some teams. I won’t explain what was wrong, but I think it is fixed.
About weekly reporting, I had planned to do a large article after each match. There is no way I can do it on Tuesday night, it is all I can do to puclish results. So I have been publishing a DRAGNET REPORT, which for those who do not get it, is Just the Facts (mam). You are still not going to get it… it is an old TV show.
I don’t know enough about what is going on each each match to write a good article, so I think I am going to stick with the Dragnet Report on Tuesday (or Wednesday) night and a preview on Sunday or Monday prior. The preview will primarily be for filling sub openings.
I’m also backing off video reports. I experimented with it. I can share a lot more information in video than a written article. But until things slow down, I'm setting the video aside.
I think that is enough for one week. See you Tuesday.
