Don’t look now, but we are halfway thru the 2024 fantasy football season. Time goes by so fast when you are measuring in football games.

Prestige Worldwide was Team of the Week in week seven, thanks in no small part to Lamar Jackson. Jackson scored 46 on Monday night as Prestige beat the Eagles 134-98. Both teams are now 4-3 and tied for second in the Lombardi division.

There were no truly close games this week. All the winners did so by more than ten points. So I’ll go by points scored in the BMFFL. That takes me to Grande Fantasmas 119-57 defeat of Sea Breeze. Breece Hall impressed former president Donald Trump on Sunday night with 20 fantasy points. Fantasmas are now 4-3 on the year.

The Gritz Blitz Falcons also 4-3 after a 118-100 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes. Saquon Barkley went back to New York and stuck it to the Giants and their fans. Derrick Henry added another 24. And Javonte Williams had 23. Always nice to have three players over twenty points.

The Baloony Boiz are, well, you guessed it, 4-3. Seems like just about everyone is 4-3. The Boiz got to this mark by beating the Old England Patriots. I’m not even wasting my time mentioning their record. Joe Mixon and Kyler Murray each had 24 for the Boiz. Cameron Dicker, the Chargers kicker, had 21.

Two teams won this week with less than one hundred points. And ironically they are not 4-3… they are both 5-2. Seems so wrong that the two 5-2 teams win with the fewest points scored. But that is fantasy football for ya. The Scammers beat the Willow Run Flyers 97-70 while Steel City Fooball beat Rimskis Raiders 94-57.

CHICKEN SCRATCHES WIN COLUMN
Kickin Chickin gets their first win of the season in a big way, with a 130-79 thumping of the Secret Scammers. And this was with a quartback who got injured early in his game and only scored five points. Chicken had six players in double digits, including Joe Mixon, the Broncos defense and Kareem Hunt with 24, 21 and 20 respectively. It may be a little late to start a playoff run, but it always feels good to get that first win.

Lamar Jackson was player of the Week for Down the Drain. Jackson had 46 on Monday night. That sealed a 126-88 victory over Shakedown. The win gets Down the Drain all the way up to first place in the Tom Landry division. Last year, Shakedown had a great first half and struggled in the second half. 2024 has been just the opposite so far. Keep an eye on them to battle back in the second half.

We had a good ole good one between Happy and the Titans Kingless Court, and it is Happy who is all smiles after this one, winning 86.2 to 85.4. Jahmyr Gibbs scored 28 and was just enough to offset a terrible day for Happys quarterback. Happy is now 4-3, but only in third place in the Shula division.

In another close game Momball defeated Bane 97-95. Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry each had 24 for Momball. If Patrick Mahomes ever rounds into usual form, Momball might have the best team in the league. Not that they don’t already, as this win advances them to 6-1 on the season.

Car Ramrod beat Error 404 115-50. Oh the same of being doubled up. Ramrod got 24 from Jalen Hurts and 23 from Javonte Williams. This puts Ramrod in second, but they are still chasing…

The Beercats. The Beercats match Momball at the midway point with six wins. They beat Transformation Worldwide 102-96 this weekend. The Beercats had three players with twenty or more points. Led by Kenneth Walker III with 21.

SURVIVOR
I'm going to do a joint survivor. No, that is not a blunt that wasn't burned down to the nub. That puts a question in my head that will, indirectly divulge personal information that may cause some of you to lose respect for me, but it is the honest truth. The question is… "when do you stop smoking a joint?" You stop smoking a cigarette when it gets to the filter. I know, my neighbor leave proof of this in my yard every summer. But I don't know when you stop smoking a joint. Feel free to ping me the answer… just be aware they by doing so you too are divulging personal information that my be used in future articles. None of this according to a friend BS.

Wow, that strayed. One survivor was tough, one wasn't but I feel slightly bad about it. The tough one was in the EWFFL. Fewer and fewer team left means even OK games can get you kicked off. And just like Derrick Henry did to Tennessee this off season, Titans Kingless Court just took a long, damp walk off survivor island.

The one that makes me feel a little bad is the Willow Run Flyers in the BMFFL. They sacraficed their place on Survivor Island just so the Digital Scammers could get another win. So nobel.

A LOOK AT THE STANDINGS
BMFFL
Mid-season gives us a good chance to look at the standings and playoff races. There is a little separation in the BMFFL which could make the playoff run a little anti-climactic. As mentioned, the Scammers and FooBall are both 5-2 and lead their respective divisions. Fooball is a game up on Prestige Worldwide and the Cincinnati Eagles in the Lombardi division. The Scammers have a game up on the Old England Patriots in the Halas division.

The crazy division is the Paul Brown division. The Falcons, Boiz and Fantasmas are all tied for first. Rimskis Raiders are a game back. This division looks the most promising to get all four teams in the playoffs.

Looking at wildcards spots, three teams are at risk of falling too far behind to make a run. Sea Breeze is 1-6, and very likely needs to go at least 5-2 down the stretch to have a shot. Just ahead of them are the Willow Run Flyers and the Ohio State Buckeyes, each at 2-5. The task isn’t as daunting for these teams, but a 4-3 close is still not easy.

Team of the Year is a real stinker right now. Prestige Worldwide and the Grizt Blitz Falcons are a hundred points up on everyone else. Only five points separates the two of them, but right now it looks like they will decide the TOY award.

EWFFL
The playoff race is a little spread out in this league too. Nobody is 5-2. That gives the Beercats and Momball a huge cushion for this point in the season. Each holds a two game lead in their division.

The Beercats are two games up on Car Ramrod and Happy in the Shula division. Momball is two games up on Transformation Worldwide in the Noll division. Down the Drain has the other division lead with a more modest 4-3 record. But they are alone atop the Landry division, a game up on the Scammers and Error 404.

The wildcard race also isn’t as close as you’d expect. Kickin Chicken is just about cooked at 1-6. Bane and Shakedown are in serious danger at 2-5. The teams currently tied for the last playoff spot are Error 404 and Titans Kingless Court. Both are 3-4 and with a lot paths to the post season with a s good second half.

Team of the Year is slightly more competitive than in the BMFFL. But Momball has a thirty point lead on the Beercats. There are other teams within somewhat striking distance, but betting odds are with Momball at this time.

MONEY MATTERS
I made a significant change to the Money Matters sections of the article page, which I think will make tracking money with owners easier for me. I’ve added the payments to my database. Previously it was just maintained with text on the page. That was both lazy and inefficient. While the DB was a bit more work, I think it will help me in the long run.

The new money matters page will list each owner, their current team name and their status of whether they owe money or are owed money. The Balance column has the amount owed and the Transaction History link will refresh the page and show all your open transactions. This should help you see if and when you made a payment or received prize money.

So before I wake Guido up to start cappin’ knees, check out the money matters at the bottom of the article to see if you still owe me your entry fee.

GAME OF THE WEEK There is a matchup of first place teams in each league. So not to show favortism, I’m going to promote both.

In the BMFFL, Steel City FooBall goes on the road to play the Gritz Blitz Falcons. This will be a battle of a couple quarterbacks coming off disappointing performances. FooBall will have CJ Stroud. The Falcons will counter with Joe Burrow.

IN the EWFFL, Momball heads over to the Hoosier state to play Down the Drain. At 6-1, Momball will start flirting with clinching a playoff spot soon. Patrick Mahommes is the big gun, but it largely has not fired this year. Despite that, Momball is the highest scoring team in the league with the most wins.

Down the Drain has Lamar Jackson. He can cover up for a lot of mistakes on a team. But I think Drain is going to have to get a lot more help to hang with MomBall.
