Man, that title doesn’t feel very creative. So disappointed in myself. Certainly a title not worthy of the highest point total this season.
The Gritz Blitz Falcons whipped Grande Fantasmas 157-82. How do you get to 150 points. It helps to have a forty point player, a thirty point player and a twenty point player… then toss in three more double digit scores. Joe Burrow scored 41 to earn Player of the Week honors. Saquon Barkley added 31. And Derrick Henry had 25. So the three backfield players were just under 100 points. That’s is extremely impressive. The Falcons are now 5 and 4, good enough for first place in the Paul Brown division.
A couple of close games made the nail-biter list. First, Steel City FooBall edged out a 78-73 win over the Cincinnati Eagles. Garret Wlson had 21 for FooBall to lead all scorers in the game. The win advances FooBall to 7-2, tie for best record in the league and with a two game lead in the Lombardi division.
Rimskis Raiders won the other close game. They beat the Baloony Boiz 109-101. Patrick Mahomes had what was probably his first Patrick Mahomes like game of the season with 30 points. It is the first time this year he scored over 25 points in a game. The Raiders are now 4-5, but mired in last in the very competitive Paul Brown division.
If it weren’t for the Falcons, I would have been writing an incredibly lame article title to honor Prestige Worldwide. Prestige beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 138-99. Lamar Jackson may be on his way to another NFL MVP, which probably means he’s a strong candidate for our leagues’ (you just knew I had to work in an apostrophe in the article this week!!!) Player of the Year Award. I wonder which means more to him. Jackson had 29, DeVon Achane had 24 and Chase Brown went large with 21.
The Old England Patriots dropped the Willow Run Flyers 106-69. Josh Allen was game MVP with 30. The win keeps the Patriots in the race in the Halas division, but they find themselves two games back of the Scammers.
That’s because the Scammers were able to calm the storm and beat SeaBreeze 86-76. Sam Darnold was a surprise with 31 points. The Scammers keep pace with FooBall at 7-2 for the best record in the league.
SURVIVOR
Man, this is brutal. All four remaining teams in Survivor scored over 100 points this week. The low team was Baloony Boiz with 101. But man that is harsh to get eliminated on a one hundred point game.
TITANS KNOCK OFF THE KING
OK, that’s a little better title. The fact they beat the best team in the league while scoring the most points in the league made it easy. And what a game. The Titans got 31 from Sam Darnold. DeVon Achane and Garret Wilson added 24 and 21 respectively. It is impressive because Momball had two players score 30 and one more with 25. Where in the world were the rest of Momball. Regardless, the win pulls the Titans to within a game of Momball in the Noll division.
The Beercats rode there little Burrow (get it, burrow? Donkey. Sigh, I tried) to a 122-86 victory over Car Ramrod 122-86. That made Burrow Player of the Week. JK Dobbins had 22 in the win. The win moves the Beercats to 7-2, and they stand alone with the best record in the league. They may have taken exception to me referring to Momball as the King. All hail the new king.
Three games fit inside the ten point window to qualify as a close game. The closes saw Transformation Worldwide eke out a win over Bane 86-83. Gino Smith was the difference in the game. He had 34 for Transformation. The win makes Transformation 6-3, while the loss is a bitter one for Bane who needs wins to make the playoffs from 3-6.
The Scammers beat Down the Drain 109-101. Josh Allen gave the Scammers 30 to offset the 29 Lamar Jackson gave the Drain. The win gets the Scammers to 4-5 and only a game back of Drain, who leads the Landry division at 5-4.
And Kickin Chicken gets win number two, beating Happy 94-84. Decimals put this just under the ten point threshold of a close game. Jayden Daniels had 23 for the Chicken, who keep their very slim playoff hopes alive.
I think the only game missing is Shakedown’s 117-76 defeat of Error 404. Zay Flowers led the way with 24. Baker Mayfield had 22 and Chase Brown 21. Good game for Shakedown, who are solid on points. They are 3-6, but I’m telling you, keep an eye on this team. They are a threat if they can get back to a playoff spot.
SURVIVOR
We are down to some absolute heavyweights in the EWFFL survivor. All the good teams are left, except, to my surprise, Kickin Chicken is still alive. I don’t meant to knock Chicken, you just don’t expect 2-7 teams to still be alive this late in Survivor.
But I’m off track again. The team getting ousted this week is Car Ramrod. The drive right off the island.
INJURED RESERVE RULE QUESTION
I had a question this week about when you can use the IR rule. My answer comes from the “ESPN Fantasy Football Support”, which is NOT on your “MY TEAM” page, but is at the bottom right of the “MATCH UP” page. You can find the full answer by
1. Click on Fantasy Football Support
2. Search for IR
3. Select Players on Injured Reserve (IR)
The following is pasted from the middle of this article…
After the IR tag appears next to that player's name, you'll be able to send him to an IR slot on your roster, but only if your league make use of that clutch feature
NOTE: In FFL players with either the Out (O) or Injured/Reserve (IR) status may be placed into the IR slot
NOTE: Suspended players (SSPD) are NOT eligible for IR on FFL.
In short, you can put any player who is OUT or IR in an injured reserve spot. Hope that helps.
GAME OF THE WEEK
This is far too easy this week. The top two teams in the BMFFL faceoff in week ten. The Digital Scammers go on the road to play Steel City FooBall. These teams are both 7-2. Two full games clear of everyone else in the league. But both have kind of underperformed in recent weeks, despite continuing to win. The Scammer come in on a nice three game winning streak. FooBall comes in on a whopping six game winning streaks. Someone’s bubble will burst this week.
The Scammers continue to use a quarterback by committee approach, and it is too early to tell who will get the start. Could be Sam Darnold, Russell Wilson or Daniel Jones. Similar situation for FooBall, who will have to choose between Trevor Lawrence and CJ Stroud. It is interesting that the teams with the two best records do not have a premier quarterback. Is that the secret to their success?
