2019 BASKETBALL BRACKET CHALLENGE FINAL STANDINGS |
The 2019 Basketball Bracket Challenge saw Michael Carlton as the victor in what
was a competitive and ever changing bracket pool.
Katie Schwesman was the opening round leader with 161 points. She
and two other went 26-6 in the first round for the best pick percentages.
But by the end of the first weekend, John Neltner has claimed the top spot.
The opening weekend saw a lot of chalk among the top seeds, so only three final
four picks from the top forty sheets had been lost.
A chalky opening weekend means really goods games the second weekend, and
inevitably teams start to drop off of people's sheets. John Neltner still
led after the sweet sixteen, but his fate was sealed when his national champion
North Carolina Tar Heels lost. David Lamb slipped to the top spot heading
into the final four. But there had been a lot of carnage. Only four
sheets in the top twenty still held a surviving championship team.
Michael not only took the lead on semi-final night, but also clinched the
tournament. When Texas Tech knocked out Michigan State, there was nobody
close within 25 points of Michael who had Virigina (the only surviving team left
that anyone had picked). Virginia did go on to win the title, and that did
shuffle the prize money around. In all, only three people had picked Virginia to
win the tournament.
