They say that all good
things must end. And for David Stubenrauch, the end is nigh. After a
dominant open weekend, the fate of our basketball savant rested on the aged
shoulders of Rick Pitino and merry band of Redmen… err… Red Storm. And
like a hurricane over cold ocean waters, they fizzled out. And frankly so
did most of the other Sweet 16 picks for Stube. He only amassed a total of
13 points in the third round. Just enough to cling to the lead like Hans
Gruber at the end of Die Hard. Stube can only score 11 more points in the
tournament and he’s done. His only final four pick left is Michigan.
Wait in the wings like a
pack of vultures over a dying carcass is Mike King. All three of him.
Mike is again second, third and fourth. Mike is holding a hand of Arizona,
Michigan and Duke to win it all. If any of those three deliver, Mr. King
will be king of the Basketball Bracket Challenge… most likely.
Fifth… and sixth for that
matter are… is… (not sure how that works grammatically) Todd Mason. Todd
was a little less creative. He has a pair of Arizona’s to win it all.
And since it is in the
money, I want to recognize Lisa Kim who is currently in seventh. Lisa was
new to the pool a couple years ago, and is on the cusp of finishing in the top
five. She is the second highest sheet with Duke as champion.
Jordan Scott rounds out the
money positions. And Jordan is the top sheet with Purdue as champion.
