Maybe the subject should have been “Hawkeyed”,
but I don’t know exactly what that would mean.
Regardless, the first major development of the tournament has happened,
as Florida becomes the first number one seed to bow out of the 2026 Basketball
Bracket Challenge. Not gonna lie, I
did see it. I don’t mean I
didn’t see it coming. I mean I
didn’t see it. Too old to stay up to
midnight to watch basketball on a work night.
Must be rested and ready to give the meatball my best every single day.
Florida’s demise takes six sheets down with it.
At the risk of being a little harsh, none of the sheets with Florida
picked were in contention. That
might have changed with the points Florida would have earned.
David Stubenrauch continues to lead.
As long as David leads, St. Johns will be the team everyone is watching.
David still has a remarkably good sheet going, having gotten 43 of the 48
games so far correct. But his lead
did shrink a little in Round 2.
Mike King is stalking Stube.
Mike sits in second and third place with scores of 221 and 220.
And those two sheets are split across champion picks of Arizona and
Michigan.
Fourth is Jordan Scott at 210.
Jordan is riding with Purdue.
And Fifth is another Mike King sheet, this one with Duke.
That means our top five in the standings all have different champion
picks.
